The Green Bay Packers’ positional battle at edge rusher will go down to the wire.

The competition for roster spots behind the Green Bay Packers‘ starting edge rushers has been an interesting one all summer.

Time is running out and there is only one preseason game remaining.

Which edge rushers need to play well in the final preseason contest this week?

Which Packers edge rushers are roster locks?

Rashan Gary and Preston Smith are roster locks. The two started together for the Packers last season and that will continue in 2021.

Rookie Kingsley Enagbare should also be considered a roster lock at this stage. Not only was Enagbare a fifth-round draft choice this year, but he has also been outstanding over the past couple of weeks, impressing in the preseason.

Which Packers edge rushers will likely make the roster?

It seems Jonathan Garvin has a pretty good shot at making the 53, although I wouldn’t quite put him in the roster lock section. Garvin hasn’t played many snaps in the two preseason games, which is a good sign for him.

That could suggest Green Bay has already decided he will make the 53-man roster.

Who is competing for a roster spot?

If we assume Enagbare and Garvin make the 53-man roster, there may only be one spot remaining for the edge rushers. And it could come down to the wire.

Kobe JonesTipa Galeai, and La’Darius Hamilton are all in the mix.

Jones has been impressive in the preseason, so he would be my pick currently. But it could all change in the final preseason game.

It may come down to which player the Packers believe can offer the most on special teams. Of course, there’s also the possibility of the team keeping six edge rushers.

Keep a close eye on the pass rushers on Thursday evening — this game could determine who makes the 53.
