Packers: Watch Tyler Goodson’s incredible spinning touchdown
Another week, another impressive performance from Green Bay Packers rookie running back Tyler Goodson.
What more can Goodson do to secure a spot on the Packers’ initial 53-man roster?
Goodson has been impressive throughout the preseason, and this continued in the first half of the Packers’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night.
Facing a third-and-11, the Packers opted for a run with Goodson. He did the rest, running 24 yards and spinning past a defender to find the end zone.
Here is a video of one of the Packers’ best preseason plays:
Goodson posted solid numbers in the first half of the game. He had six carries for 25 yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.2 yards per attempt. He has also made four catches for 22 yards.
Whether Goodson makes Green Bay’s 53-man roster could come down to a couple of factors.
Will the team keep more than two running backs on the roster, or will they promote one of their backups to the gameday roster from the practice squad in Week 1? Kylin Hill will return at some point this season.
The other factor could be special teams. Perhaps Patrick Taylor would get the edge ahead of Goodson there.
But there’s no doubting Goodson’s talent as a runner and receiver. He has repeatedly shown how talented he is throughout the summer. He looks ready to take on the RB3 role in Matt LaFleur’s offense, at least until Hill is ready to return.
His touchdown run in the first half shows his ability to force missed tackles.
Goodson is an explosive runner and he also offers plenty as a receiver. There’s a lot to like about his potential in Green Bay.
It has been another impressive performance from the undrafted rookie. Will it be enough to land him a spot on the 53-man roster?
