Packers: Aaron Rodgers should be No. 1 in NFL Top 100 rankings
Playing some of the best football of his Hall-of-Fame career, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been named the NFL MVP two years running.
However, he wasn’t voted the best player in the league by his peers.
The NFL Top 100 Players of 2022 rankings have now been revealed in full, with the top 10 announced on Sunday.
While Aaron Rodgers is part of the top 10, he doesn’t lead the way. Rodgers is at No. 3 in the rankings behind Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
There’s no denying how talented Brady and Donald are. Both players will be first-ballot Hall-of-Famers.
But it’s also hard to believe Aaron Rodgers wasn’t voted the best player in the league.
Last season, Rodgers threw for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns with only four interceptions. Since 2020, he has thrown 85 touchdowns with only nine interceptions.
Brady threw more picks (12) than that last season alone. Yes, Brady had more passing yards and touchdowns than Rodgers in 2021, but he also threw three times as many interceptions.
Rodgers was also No. 3 in last year’s rankings, which also came off the back of an MVP season.
Another surprise was that Rodgers and De’Vondre Campbell were the only Packers players featured in the Top 100 this year. That means no Jaire Alexander, David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Rashan Gary, or Kenny Clark.
Former Packer Davante Adams was No. 7 in the rankings.
Whether Aaron Rodgers is first or third in the rankings, he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and playing at an incredible level. Can the back-to-back MVP make it three in a row this season? Only one player has achieved that in the past: Rodgers’ former teammate Brett Favre.
Where should Aaron Rodgers have ranked? Should any other Packers players have made the Top 100?
