Romeo Doubs catches two touchdowns

It will be a different story for the Packers’ young wide receiver, however.

Fourth-round rookie Romeo Doubs may have a significant role to play right away, especially if Allen Lazard is unavailable in Week 1. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Lazard won’t practice on Wednesday. That’s hardly ideal.

If Lazard is out, Sammy Watkins will be the Packers’ top outside wide receiver. Randall Cobb will spend most of his time in the slot.

But who’s next? Which receiver lines up outside opposite Watkins?

It’s unlikely to be second-round pick Christian Watson just yet. He missed most of the summer due to injury and is still getting up to speed.

How about Doubs? The rookie impressed all summer, earning praise from his quarterback. Doubs consistently gained separation both at practice and in the preseason, and he made some spectacular catches.

Doubs was a touchdown machine over the summer, and I predict he’ll find the end zone twice against the Vikings.

Cornerback is the Vikings’ biggest defensive weakness, and Doubs has shown an impressive ability to gain separation.

If Lazard is out, the Packers will need one of their other wide receivers to step up. Enter Romeo Doubs, who brings in two touchdowns on his NFL debut.
