What are the three key matchups in the Green Bay Packers’ season opener against the Minnesota Vikings?

Football is back. On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers visit U.S. Bank Stadium for a divisional showdown against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Packers have won two of their previous three meetings with the Vikings on the road, but they will need a better Week 1 performance than we saw a year ago.

These three matchups might make all the difference in the season opener.

3. Romeo Doubs vs. Patrick Peterson

With Allen Lazard likely out, rookie Romeo Doubs could see an increase in snaps. It means Sammy Watkins could take on the WR1 role, but Doubs is a player to watch.

Doubs’ separation, speed, and ability to win 50/50 passes has made him a star of the summer, both on the practice field and in the preseason.

Patrick Peterson is unlikely to shadow any of the Packers’ receivers and could play his side of the field. That could lead to some one-on-one situations with Doubs.

Peterson had a solid first year with the Vikings but enters his age-32 season. Doubs found success up against the Packers’ talented secondary at training camp, and he will provide a tough test for Peterson in his NFL debut.

Can Doubs continue to impress after an excellent summer? This could be a matchup to watch.
