The Green Bay Packers are down to No. 12 in the NFL Spin Zone power rankings for Week 2.

It was almost a worst-case scenario for the Green Bay Packers in their opening day defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.

In the first test for the Packers without All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, they failed, putting up just seven points in the defeat.

Christian Watson dropped what likely would’ve been a 75-yard touchdown, while AJ Dillon was stopped on fourth-and-one on the Vikings’ goal line. Opportunities were there, but the Packers couldn’t make them count.

Packers fall in NFL Spin Zone Week 2 power rankings

The Packers began the season sixth in NFL Spin Zone’s power rankings. As expected, Sunday’s loss to the Vikings means they have fallen in the latest update.

In NFL Spin Zone’s Week 2 power rankings, Randy Gurzi has Green Bay down at No. 12.

Losing in the season opener is one thing, but it’s not the end of the world. Other 0-1 teams are ahead of Green Bay in the power rankings.

More concerning was the performance at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Not for the first time, Matt LaFleur’s team didn’t look ready for the season opener and got outplayed in every phase.

If there’s a positive spin on it, there were opportunities. Watson did the hard part in beating Patrick Peterson one-on-one. If he makes the catch, it’s almost certainly a touchdown. If Dillon had managed to get in the end zone, it would’ve been another touchdown.

The Packers got in position to score more points, they just made too many mistakes at key moments.

If they can put that right in future games, the offense should get back on track.

The defense will also be far better than what we saw in Week 1. Not having to play Justin Jefferson every week will help.

One thing is for sure: Green Bay needs a win in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.
