3. Christian Watson

‘A missed opportunity’ best describes Christian Watson’s Packers debut. He only finished with two catches for 34 yards against the Vikings, but could’ve had so much more. In fact, he could’ve put up over double that receiving total on the very first play.

After beating Patrick Peterson in coverage and getting wide open deep downfield, Watson dropped a perfect pass from Aaron Rodgers, one that would’ve almost certainly ended with a 75-yard touchdown.

However, the good news is that it was Watson’s mistake. What I mean by that is if he had a quiet debut because he couldn’t separate from cornerbacks, it would be more of a concern.

But the second-round pick showed plenty of ability to get open, using his elite speed and athleticism.

If Watson can have fewer drops and show he’s a reliable pass catcher, a big rookie season could be ahead.

But first, he needs to continue building a connection with Aaron Rodgers. Trust is a big part of that. If Watson starts cashing in on those opportunities and makes fewer mistakes, Rodgers will begin to trust him more and more.

There will be opportunities for Watson against the Bears’ secondary. Can he make the most of it and have a great performance in the home opener?
