3 times the Green Bay Packers destroyed the Chicago Bears
The Green Bay Packers have had their way in recent years against the Chicago Bears. Let’s look back at three of their most dominant victories.
Aaron Rodgers reminded Chicago Bears fans last year that he owns them, and he’s not wrong. The Green Bay Packers boast a tremendous record over their oldest rivals since Rodgers became the starting quarterback.
In Rodgers’ 27 starts against the Bears, the Packers have gone 22-5. In one of those five losses, Rodgers only threw one pass as he broke his collarbone on the opening possession.
So it’s true, Rodgers does own the Bears.
Let’s revisit three of the Packers’ most dominant victories over the Bears with Rodgers.
Week 4, 2017: Packers 35, Bears 14
The 2017 season wasn’t a good one for Green Bay. Like four years earlier, Rodgers would break his collarbone and miss around half of the season. But unlike in 2013, there was no miracle return from Rodgers, and Green Bay missed the playoffs.
However, a couple of weeks before his injury, Rodgers guided the Packers to a convincing win over the Bears at Lambeau Field.
Rodgers threw for 179 yards and four touchdowns with a passer rating of 128.0. Mike Glennon struggled at quarterback for the Bears, throwing for 218 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Green Bay scored three touchdowns in the opening half, effectively putting the game away at 21-0.
Chicago’s defense had no answer for Green Bay’s dominant receiving trio of Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Davante Adams, with each finding the end zone. Nelson had two touchdown catches.
The Packers’ 2017 season didn’t end well, but before Rodgers’ injury, they dominated the Bears at Lambeau Field.
