Packers rise in power rankings after bounce-back win vs. Bears
The Green Bay Packers got the job done in Week 2, defeating the Chicago Bears in the home opener. As a result, they rise up the latest power rankings.
In desperate need of a win, the Green Bay Packers were back to their best against the division-rival Chicago Bears in Week 2.
It was the Packers’ seventh straight victory over the Bears, all under head coach Matt LaFleur.
As a result of the impressive win, Green Bay has climbed the Week 3 power rankings.
Packers rise up NFL Spin Zone Week 3 power rankings
Understandably, the Packers fell dramatically in the power rankings following their Week 1 loss at U.S. Bank Stadium. Not only for the result, but also the performance.
However, they got back on track against Chicago and played much closer to their best.
And the updated power rankings reflect that. NFL Spin Zone’s Randy Gurzi moved Green Bay up to fifth in the Week 3 power rankings.
“They continue to be one of the best teams in the league and reading too much into Week 1 is apparently a mistake with them,” noted Gurzi.
That’s certainly the hope. Last season, the Packers were destroyed 38-3 in the opener against the New Orleans Saints, but responded with 13 victories from their remaining 16 games, securing the NFC’s top seed.
The start of this season has followed a similar pattern.
And it could continue in Week 3.
Last season, Green Bay battled back to 1-1 with a home victory against the Detroit Lions, but then faced a daunting road game against the San Francisco 49ers, a team that had ended their season two years earlier.
Matt LaFleur’s team picked up an impressive win at Levi’s Stadium.
Now, they meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road, a team that ended their season two years ago. Can they follow the pattern of last season and pick up an impressive road victory?
If they do, a place above the Bucs in next week’s power rankings will surely be theirs.
