Packers Week 3 injury report: David Bakhtiari status uncertain vs. Bucs
Matt LaFleur’s update on whether David Bakhtiari could play in the Green Bay Packers’ Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasn’t too encouraging.
Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari didn’t practice on Wednesday, according to the team’s first injury report of the week.
It could mean Bakhtiari’s return has to wait another week, but we’ll see.
Bakhtiari was one of two Packers not to practice on Wednesday. The other was Randall Cobb, who missed practice due to an illness.
Seven players on Packers’ Week 3 injury report
When asked whether Bakhtiari will be available for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, head coach Matt LaFleur said he has “no idea”.
Bakhtiari not practicing on Wednesday is a concern, but there’s still time for him to return to practice this week.
Cobb was the only other player not to practice, but four Packers wide receivers are on the injury report.
Allen Lazard (ankle), Sammy Watkins (hamstring), and Christian Watson (hamstring) were limited participants on Wednesday.
Hopefully Watkins and Watson being limited was just precautionary and not a sign they could miss Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.
Tight end Marcedes Lewis (groin) was limited at practice. Right tackle Elgton Jenkins (knee) was limited.
Lazard and Jenkins being on the injury report was to be expected. Lazard has missed time with an ankle injury but played in Week 2. Jenkins also returned last week, his first game back after tearing his ACL in 2021.
It’s still early in the week. We won’t get a clearer picture of which players could miss Week 3 until Thursday or Friday.
But it’s possible the Packers could again be without Bakhtiari, which would mean another start for Yosh Nijman at left tackle. Nijman has played well this season.
If many of the wide receivers are out, maybe we’ll see more Romeo Doubs on Sunday. Something to watch.
