Packers rule Sammy Watkins out vs. Bucs in Week 3
The Green Bay Packers will be without wide receiver Sammy Watkins in their Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Sammy Watkins led the Green Bay Packers in receiving in last week’s win over the Chicago Bears, but he won’t be available for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Packers have officially ruled out Watkins due to a hamstring injury. According to the injury report, he is the only player the team has ruled out ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tampa Bay.
Watkins showed the kind of impact he can make in this offense last week, catching three passes for a team-best 93 yards in the victory over the Bears.
But the Packers will need to adjust without him in this week’s challenging matchup against the Buccaneers.
Watkins might not be the only wide receiver out for Green Bay.
Rookie Christian Watson is questionable due to a hamstring injury. He hasn’t practiced since Wednesday. Randall Cobb is also questionable to play this week due to illness. He hasn’t practiced all week.
Hopefully, they will both be cleared to play on Sunday. The Packers will need them.
The good news is that Allen Lazard is ready to go. He returned from injury last week against the Bears and has been taken off the injury report for Week 3.
The Buccaneers will be without their top two wide receivers on Sunday.
Mike Evans is suspended this week and won’t play. Chris Godwin has also been ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
Julio Jones is questionable to play. He is dealing with a knee injury. Russell Gage and Breshad Perriman are also questionable to play this week.
Both teams are hit with injuries at wide receiver. This game could be won and lost on defense and with which team can run the ball more efficiently.
