Edge rusher Tipa Galeai has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
Week 6 injury report: Packers without Christian Watson vs. Jets
Green Bay will miss Watson in Week 6. While he hasn’t become a go-to target for Aaron Rodgers just yet, Watson adds something to the offense with his speed. Even when the ball isn’t going his way, defenders have to respect his ability to run right past them.
Unfortunately, there is a possibility Watson could miss some time. Head coach Matt LaFleur said it’s possible they will shut him down for a while due to recurring hamstring issues.
Gary’s status for Sunday remains up in the air. It will likely depend on how his toe feels in the coming days and whether the medical staff believe he isn’t at risk of making it worse.
It’s not ideal to hear Matt LaFleur use the word “concerned” about the Packers’ star edge rusher.
If Gary is out, Green Bay’s pass-rush depth will be tested, especially with Galeai also out.
The Jets have a couple of injury issues of their own. Rookie edge rusher Jermaine Johnson has been ruled out of this game due to an ankle injury, while tackle Duane Brown is questionable with a shoulder injury. Something to watch.
Rashan Gary’s status will be the key story ahead of Sunday’s game.
