The Green Bay Packers are expected to be without Randall Cobb for some time, although Sammy Watkins could make his return in Week 7.

When Randall Cobb left on a cart in the Green Bay Packers‘ loss to the New York Jets, everyone feared the worst.

Was Cobb’s season over? As it’s a contract year, had Cobb played his final snap for the Packers?

The good news is that head coach Matt LaFleur said Cobb’s injury shouldn’t end his season, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. However, he is expected to miss some time.

It’s bad news for a struggling Packers offense, as Cobb has been excellent this year and one of Aaron Rodgers’ top targets.

After six games, Cobb is second for the Packers in receiving with 18 catches for 257 yards. He has picked up 12 first downs and remains a key target for Rodgers at important moments.

Green Bay will miss him, especially given how much the offense is already struggling.

However, Sammy Watkins’ potential return this week would be good news.

Watkins has missed four games on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, which means Green Bay can activate him this week if he’s ready to go.

Watkins made six catches for 111 yards in the two games he played this season before suffering an injury.

His speed could help give Green Bay a much-needed deep threat, which could help open up the offense a bit.

With Cobb out, the Packers may need Watkins to play a featured role moving forward. Hopefully he will be able to return ahead of this Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Commanders.

For now, it’s unclear how much time Cobb will miss. The team will likely place him on injured reserve, which would rule him out of a minimum of four games.

The offense will have to adjust in the meantime, and hopefully the Packers can stay in the playoff race for his return later in the season.
