Packers: 3 trade targets at wide receiver before deadline
With next month’s trade deadline nearing, here are three wide receivers the Green Bay Packers could potentially target.
Adding a wide receiver won’t magically fix all of the Green Bay Packers‘ offensive problems, but it sure wouldn’t hurt.
The Packers have started the season with frustratingly inconsistent play on offense. At times, they show the potential to become an unstoppable unit. Other times, they can’t even move the chains.
Partly to blame is the turnover at wide receiver, along with injuries to Sammy Watkins, Christian Watson, and now Randall Cobb.
Making a trade for a top receiver won’t fix everything, but it could help the Packers’ offense find more consistency. Here are three potential targets before the upcoming trade deadline.
Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos
Perhaps the NFL’s biggest disappointment in 2022 are the Denver Broncos. Projected as Super Bowl contenders by many, Denver sits 2-4 and could soon find itself out of playoff contention.
Perhaps the Broncos, a team without picks in the opening two rounds of next year’s draft, would be open to a deal for Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy has struggled for consistency in Denver. The former first-round pick has 17 catches for 290 yards and two touchdowns this season.
A fresh start could be just what he needs. Going from the Nathaniel Hackett system to Matt LaFleur’s offense shouldn’t be a particularly difficult adjustment. Jeudy would get plenty of opportunities in Green Bay.
Jeudy’s contract situation could come into play for the Broncos. According to Spotrac, he has only a year remaining on his rookie deal after this season, although Denver may pick up his fifth-year option in the offseason.
The Broncos could likely land a Day 2 draft pick, maybe more, from the Packers. In return, Green Bay gets a talented young player who made 52 catches for 856 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season.
Both this year and in the longer term, Jeudy can help the Packers.
