The updated NFC North standings don’t look great for the Green Bay Packers.
It may only be Week 7, but the Green Bay Packers‘ chances of retaining their NFC North crown are already hanging by a thread.
Following their third straight defeat on Sunday, Green Bay finds itself way behind in the division.
Matt LaFleur’s team is 2.5 games back on the Minnesota Vikings, who are on their bye week. The Vikings also have the advantage over the Packers after defeating them in Week 1.
Here are the updated NFC North standings after Green Bay’s disappointing defeat at Washington:
Updated NFC North standings after Packers’ loss to Commanders
- Minnesota Vikings (5-1)
- Green Bay Packers (3-4)
- Chicago Bears (2-4)
- Detroit Lions (1-5)
Vikings’ next five: Cardinals, at Commanders, at Bills, Cowboys, Patriots
Packers’ next five: at Bills, at Lions, Cowboys, Titans, at Eagles
Bears’ next five: at Patriots, at Cowboys, Dolphins, Lions, at Falcons
Lions’ next five: Dolphins, Packers, at Bears, at Giants, Bills
The Lions lost on their return from their bye week, a 24-6 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys. The Bears take on the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. A win for Chicago, and it will tie Green Bay’s record.
To make matters worse for Green Bay, its upcoming schedule looks tougher on paper than the rest of the NFC North.
While the Vikings also play on the road against the Buffalo Bills, they also get the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots at home, and the Washington Commanders on the road.
Green Bay faces matchups with Buffalo, the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Philadelphia Eagles over the next five weeks. Not ideal.
Green Bay’s dominant run in the NFC North under Matt LaFleur is in jeopardy. The team needs to focus on getting back on track in the coming weeks, but it won’t be easy with a tough run to come.
