How can the Green Bay Packers pull off an upset win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 8?

Nobody is giving the Green Bay Packers a shot in Week 8. And who could blame them?

Matt LaFleur’s team has lost three in a row, and the performances are getting worse each week. Their opponents? An unstoppable Buffalo Bills team featuring the league’s top-ranked offense and defense.

So, no, the Packers aren’t expected to win. If we’re being honest, it probably won’t even be close.

But what will it take for the Packers to shock the world and pull off an impressive road victory in Week 8?

1. Slow down the tempo

Green Bay must enter this game with a solid game plan. It can’t win a high-scoring battle of the offenses. The Packers must find a way to take this game deep and keep it low-scoring.

To achieve this, they must control the tempo. Run the football, utilize the short-passing game, and keep ahead of the chains.

Not easy, of course, against the league’s No. 1 defense.

If ever there were a game for Aaron Jones to get 20+ touches, this is it. Whether it’s on the ground or in the short-passing game, the Packers must get their star running back involved.

Last week, the Washington Commanders limited the Packers to just seven second-half points. That was in part due to Green Bay’s offensive struggles, but also because Washington held the ball for 19:44 compared to Green Bay’s 10:16, while also running 38 offensive plays compared to the Packers’ 23.

Dominating time of possession against the Bills will be difficult, but the Packers have to try to slow down the tempo if they can. Sustaining long drives with a combination of running the ball and the short-passing game is essential.
