Packers get pressure on Josh Allen, but it doesn’t matter

The Packers’ defense encountered a problem many other teams have found this year. They were able to generate pressure on Bills quarterback Josh Allen, but it simply didn’t matter. Allen is too good. With pressure in his face, he still finds ways to make plays. Again, he makes plays we often saw Aaron Rodgers pull off.

Green Bay sacked Allen twice and had three quarterback hits. Against another quarterback, Joe Barry’s unit may have made many more sacks. Against Allen, it wasn’t possible.

According to Pro Football Focus, Allen threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns under pressure on Sunday night, while completing six of 12 passes.

Some of the blame belongs to the Packers’ secondary. If they had played better, Allen would’ve had to either throw the ball away or run.

When the secondary did cover well, we did see Allen under pressure. At times, he was able to escape due to his great mobility, but other times he made mistakes. The Packers got two interceptions but could’ve had about four.

But sometimes, it’s also important to give credit to the opponent. The Packers were able to generate pressure, but Allen had the answers. That’s why he’s one of the league’s top quarterbacks and looks on his way to an MVP season.
