The Green Bay Packers continue to lose games, and they keep falling in the power rankings as a result.

As expected, the Buffalo Bills were far too good for the Packers in Week 8, despite Matt LaFleur’s team showing plenty of fight in the second half.

It puts LaFleur and his team in an unfamiliar situation. They’ve lost four straight, the same number of defeats they suffered all of last season.

Where do they go from here? In time, we’ll find out, but when it comes to the power rankings, the only direction is down.

Packers move down in Week 9 power rankings after another loss

Randy Gurzi has updated his NFL Spin Zone power rankings for Week 9, with the Packers moving down to 17th. That’s down three positions from last week, when they were 14th.

“Now at 3-5, they’re far behind the Vikings but can get back on track with a game against the Lions on tap,” wrote Gurzi.

That’s certainly the hope.

Detroit’s defense is allowing a league-high 421.3 yards and 32.1 points per game. The Lions have lost five in a row since beating the Washington Commanders in Week 2.

If the Packers can’t get right in this matchup with the Lions, they can pretty much forget about turning things around this season.

Green Bay likely needs to win a minimum of six games from its remaining nine, which is why Sunday’s showdown with Detroit is as close to a must-win as it gets.

Following that game, the Packers host the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans before road games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears.

The Packers close out the season at home against the Los Angeles Rams, on the road against the Miami Dolphins, then back home for matchups with the Minnesota Vikings and Lions.

The time to turn things around has to begin now.
