Packers vs. Lions prediction and odds for Week 9 matchup
The Green Bay Packers are slight favorites for their Week 9 road matchup with the Detroit Lions.
The Green Bay Packers have lost four in a row, the Detroit Lions five. Something has to give.
Green Bay needs to get its season back on track, and fast, as the team’s playoff hopes are quickly fading. While this game isn’t technically a must-win, it’s as close as it gets.
After showing some fight in their loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, can the Packers finally end their losing run against the Lions in Week 9?
Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions odds Week 9
According to FanDuel, the Packers are currently 3.5-point favorites over the Lions in Week 9. While Green Bay is the favorite in this game, it could be a close matchup.
Green Bay is -194 on the moneyline, while Detroit is +162.
The over/under is currently set at 49.5 points.
Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions prediction Week 9
The best news for the Packers is that they come up against a Lions defense that ranks last in the NFL. Detroit is giving up 421.3 yards per game, and also has the worst scoring defense in the league, allowing 32.1 points per contest.
If Matt LaFleur’s offense can’t get right in this game, there may be no hope.
Green Bay hasn’t posted 30 points in any of its eight games this season, but that could finally change in Week 9. If the ground game gets going like we saw at Buffalo last week, the Packers will have a chance to control the game and put up points.
The Lions’ offense has found plenty of success this season, though. They disappointed in Weeks 5 and 7, either side of the bye, when they managed a combined six points, but they have impressed outside of those two games. In the other five, they are averaging 33.4 points per game.
Due to Detroit’s defensive struggles, I’m picking Green Bay to finally end its losing run, winning by a touchdown.
