As the Green Bay Packers’ struggles continue, here are five takeaways from their loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 9.

What was that?

In last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Green Bay Packers showed fight and they showed heart. They were willing to adapt their game plan, and there were signs of encouragement.

Sunday afternoon at Ford Field, the Packers forgot all of that. Normal service resumed. Green Bay leaned on its struggling passing game, turned the ball over for fun, and continued to make the same mistakes we’ve seen all season.

They got what they deserved. The Detroit Lions handed Matt LaFleur’s team its fifth straight defeat.

So, what did we learn?

There is your dagger

Oh dear. When Aaron Rodgers signed a contract extension, it was to extend Green Bay’s championship window.

But this season may be over, and it’s only Week 9.

The Packers have lost five straight and six of their opening nine games. To get out of this mess, they will need a 2016-style turnaround and play near-perfect football the rest of the way.

However, after losing to the Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions over the past few weeks, it’s hard to believe this team can stack victories in the next three against the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Philadelphia Eagles.

Forget about playoffs. A top-10 draft pick is more likely in Green Bay’s future.
