Amari Rodgers

The Packers need an overhaul at wide receiver. Romeo Doubs could be a great player for the future and Christian Watson has shown his ability when healthy.

However, now in year two, Amari Rodgers has struggled to make an impact.

It’s hard to believe he still returns punts. He rarely makes a positive play on special teams and has fumbled three times this season. But it appears the Packers have no other option.

With injuries at wide receiver, Rodgers has seen his snap counts increase on offense in recent weeks. According to Pro Football Reference, the second-year wide receiver played a combined five offensive snaps in the Packers’ opening five games. He has played 87 over the past four weeks.

Despite that, the ball hasn’t gone his way too often.

Rodgers has four catches for 50 yards this season. He made a nice play late in the game against the Buffalo Bills, but moments like this have been few and far between.

With Randall Cobb still on injured reserve, Allen Lazard playing through injury, and uncertainty over whether Doubs and Watson will play next week, Rodgers could see more opportunities.

But unless he shows big improvements in the second half of the season, the Packers need to move on in the spring.
