Packers’ freefall in NFL power rankings continues after fifth straight loss
When the Green Bay Packers led the New York Giants at halftime and looked on course for their fourth victory in the opening five weeks, few could’ve expected what was to come.
The Packers fell apart in the second half in London, losing the game. They haven’t won since.
Five straight defeats leave Matt LaFleur’s team in an awful position, and one they need a quick response from to have any shot at a playoff berth.
Unfortunately, the schedule keeps getting tougher.
The Packers move down yet again in this week’s power rankings.
Packers’ freefall in NFL power rankings continues
Randy Gurzi has updated his power rankings for NFL Spin Zone entering Week 10, and it’s more misery for the Packers.
Green Bay is down to No. 21 in the rankings, having sat at No. 17 a week ago. You could stick this team all the way down at No. 30 at this point.
Which teams could you confidently say the Packers would beat? A week ago, you may have said the Detroit Lions, who owned the league’s bottom-ranked defense and had just one win to their name.
But no matter how much Detroit tried to throw the game away, Green Bay scored just nine points in an embarrassing loss to its division rivals.
In the next three weeks, Green Bay takes on the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Philadelphia Eagles, three playoff-bound teams with a combined record of 19-5.
Their previous three defeats have come to teams with a combined record of 12-13.
It could prove to be a long second half to the 2022 season.
Green Bay has to find a way to start winning, but the schedule is daunting. The team also lost star edge rusher Rashan Gary for the season, while many other key starters could miss time due to injury.
It’s not looking good for the Packers, who could be even lower in these rankings after the next few weeks.
