Randall Cobb

One player Aaron Rodgers did have great chemistry with was Randall Cobb, who looked back to his best before he suffered an injury.

Cobb looked explosive and regularly picked up yards after the catch this season. He made 18 receptions for 257 yards, of which 135 came after the catch, according to Pro Football Reference.

An injury in Week 6 against the New York Jets landed Cobb on injured reserve, but fortunately it shouldn’t end his season.

Cobb is a free agent next offseason. Unless Aaron Rodgers sticks around and wants Cobb back, it’s hard to imagine he will return. Cobb will turn 33 before the start of the 2023 season, and he has also struggled to stay healthy the past couple of years.

The Packers drafted Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure this year, so they may opt to build their wide receiver corps around their young talent.

The only way it seems possible Cobb re-signs is if Rodgers plays in 2023, and Cobb is willing to take an affordable one-year contract.

Even if Rodgers is back, the Packers could decide to move on from Cobb.

Cobb has had an outstanding career in Green Bay, and it’s a real shame it looks unlikely he’ll get a Super Bowl ring with the team that drafted him.
