NFL standings, Week 10: Packers stay alive in NFC playoff race
Maybe the Green Bay Packers aren’t done quite yet.
Following their overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Packers remain in the wild-card race in the NFC.
FiveThirtyEight only gives the Packers a 13 percent chance of making the playoffs, but they kept themselves in the mix with their comeback win over the Cowboys.
The NFC North title is as good as gone. The Minnesota Vikings keep winning and, unless they lose almost every game the rest of the way, will be division champions in the near future.
However, the Packers remain close to the San Francisco 49ers for the seventh seed in the playoffs.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders play on Monday Night Football. Here are the updated NFC standings after the Week 10 games so far:
NFC standings in Week 10: Packers stay alive
- Philadelphia Eagles (8-0)
- Minnesota Vikings (8-1)
- Seattle Seahawks (6-4)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-5)
- New York Giants (7-2)
- Dallas Cowboys (6-3)
- San Francisco 49ers (5-4)
- Washington Commanders (5-5)
- Green Bay Packers (4-6)
- Atlanta Falcons (4-6)
- Arizona Cardinals (4-6)
- Detroit Lions (3-6)
- Los Angeles Rams (3-6)
- Carolina Panthers (3-7)
- New Orleans Saints (3-7)
- Chicago Bears (3-7)
Realistically, the Packers have to look at that seventh seed and not worry about much else. It would take a lot to catch either the New York Giants or Dallas Cowboys, so that final playoff spot is the one to aim for.
Green Bay still has work to do and remains 1.5 games back on San Francisco, but there is a lot of football to be played.
All Matt LaFleur’s team can do is win. They finally ended their five-game losing streak on Sunday against the Cowboys. They must now build momentum, starting with a game against the Tennessee Titans at Lambeau Field on Thursday night.
If they can keep winning games, they will stay in the mix for a wild-card berth. But a lot of work still needs to be done.
