Quay Walker dominates

It wasn’t a great night for the Packers’ defense, but that doesn’t include rookie Quay Walker.

The Packers’ first-round pick has put together an impressive rookie season, and this may have been his best performance yet.

Walker finished the game with a team-high 12 tackles, eight solo tackles, half a sack, a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit. He also made a crucial fourth-down stop on Derrick Henry, along with Preston Smith, preventing a potential touchdown.

According to Pro Football Focus, Walker made four run stops, a coverage stop, and a sack. Impressive.

With De’Vondre Campbell out due to injury, Walker has stepped up and made an impact in the middle of the field.

Again, much like with Christian Watson, the Packers look to have found a star player for the future. The team might not be going anywhere this season, and the playoffs are a long shot, but Walker can be a core piece of this defense in the coming years. A player to build around.

He has looked like a potential future Pro Bowler throughout his rookie season. A great start for Walker.

GM Brian Gutekunst has to be delighted by the play of his 2022 draft class so far.
