Packers: Kingsley Enagbare impressing in rookie season
The Green Bay Packers‘ 2022 draft class has the potential to be special.
First-round pick Quay Walker has shown Pro Bowl potential, while Devonte Wyatt has impressed in a backup role.
Wide receiver Christian Watson has shown significant improvements since returning from injury, catching five touchdowns over the past two weeks. Romeo Doubs looks like a great player for the future, too.
And with Zach Tom and Samori Toure impressing when given an opportunity, there’s a lot to like about this draft class already.
But don’t forget about fifth-round pick Kingsley Enagbare.
Enagbare has the Packers’ highest Pro Football Focus grade among rookies. Not Walker, Watson, or Doubs, but Enagbare. According to PFF’s Kambui Bomani, Enagbare has two sacks, 11 pressures, and a pass-rush win rate of 18.4%.
Impressive numbers for Enagbare.
And that’s not surprising. There have been several moments throughout the season where Enagbare has impressed. Not just with his sacks, but times when he beats his man and generates pressure.
It was a surprise when Enagbare fell to the fifth round, and he is showing why.
The rookie’s snap counts have increased as the year has gone on, and he has started the past two games with Rashan Gary out.
Gary won’t play again this season, giving Enagbare a great opportunity to gain experience with the first-team defense. He has shown a ton of potential as a pass rusher in his first season and could become a starter in this defense in year two.
The Packers have to be delighted that Enagbare fell to them in the fifth round of the draft. He is already proving why he should’ve gone higher than that, and he can still become an even better player.
Enagbare could end up as one of the best Day 3 picks in 2022 and a starter for the Packers on defense.
