Packers rookie Christian Watson wins NFL monthly award
Now fully healthy, Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Christian Watson is showing exactly what he can do.
The Packers traded up to get Watson early in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and we’re seeing why.
After an excellent run of games, Watson has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November.
And well deserved.
With his speed and athleticism, Watson is proving to be a real problem for opposing defenses. When the ball is in his hands in space, there’s little defenders can do to stop him. He has the speed to run past everyone on the field, as he did on his 63-yard catch-and-run touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
Once Jordan Love found Watson in space in the middle of the field, it was game over.
Despite the best efforts of multiple Eagles defenders, Watson was too fast and ran past them all en route to the end zone.
Watson has been a touchdown machine for the Packers over the past month.
In his past three games, Watson has caught 12 passes for 265 yards and six touchdowns. Yep, six touchdowns. That included three against the Dallas Cowboys.
He then scored twice against the Tennessee Titans and added another to his tally last week against the Eagles.
Injuries had been an issue for Watson since training camp. He had struggled to stay healthy for any great length of time, and when he did play, he couldn’t stop dropping the ball.
But now that he has been healthy for a stretch of games, Watson is showing what he can do. He is making fewer mistakes and making game-changing plays each week.
Watson is showing star potential and he could be an excellent player for the Packers in the coming seasons. He deservedly wins the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month award.
