Which five positions must the Green Bay Packers upgrade next offseason to compete in 2023?

Calling this Green Bay Packers season a disappointment would be a massive understatement.

After bringing back Aaron Rodgers and going all-in for this season, to only have five wins on the board in December is frustrating.

It means the Packers enter an offseason filled with uncertainty, from Rodgers’ future to whether this team remains in contention or has to start the rebuilding process.

Green Bay barely remains in playoff contention, so there is still something to play for. But with the team entering its bye week, it’s time for us to look ahead.

Which positions are the Packers’ biggest areas of need entering the 2023 offseason?

5. Defensive line

Green Bay’s defensive line has disappointed.

The Packers entered the season with high expectations. Alongside multi-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark was free-agent addition Jarran Reed, first-rounder Devonte Wyatt, and Dean Lowry coming off a career year.

So, what’s happened?

The defensive line has been bullied up front far too often. Clark hasn’t played near his best for much of the year, Lowry has taken a huge step back, and the defensive line has played nowhere near their best.

Lowry and Reed are free agents in the offseason.

Clark remains the star player up front, while Wyatt has shown potential in his rookie season. But the Packers will need to add more depth up front if Lowry and Reed are gone.
