Round 1 (9): EDGE Myles Murphy, Clemson

With Clemson edge rusher Myles Murphy still on the board at ninth overall, this was an easy choice.

The Packers should add another edge rusher in the offseason.

Rashan Gary will return at some point in 2023 and Preston Smith remains under contract next season. Kingsley Enagbare will also enter his second year in Green Bay. But the Packers should still look to add another top pass rusher in the offseason.

In 13 games for Clemson this season, Murphy has made 6.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and he has forced a fumble.

Like when the Packers selected Gary in 2019, Murphy would be a player with star potential to develop.

“He’s still figuring it out as a pass-rusher, but his 40 pressures last season and 33 pressures this season show how disruptive he can be even in the learning stages,” wrote Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema.

Now imagine the future starting duo of Myles Murphy and Rashan Gary in Green Bay. That would be a potential championship-winning combination.

Murphy could end up going in the first five picks of the draft, but in the mock draft simulator, he was still there at ninth overall.

The Clemson pass rusher would be a dream first-round pick for the Packers if he’s there when they make their first choice.
