The Green Bay Packers‘ defense hasn’t met its high expectations this season.

Joe Barry’s unit was supposed to be the difference for the 2022 team, one that helped them finally take that next step and win a championship.

It hasn’t happened and there are now tough decisions to be made in the upcoming free agency.

Which Packers defensive players will be re-signed in the offseason? Here are their upcoming free agents on defense:

Green Bay Packers’ 2023 free agents: Defense

DL Jarran Reed

Reed has started 10 games for the Packers so far this season, but his arrival hasn’t helped the defensive line reach the next level. It won’t be surprising if Green Bay moves on in the offseason.

DL Dean Lowry

After a career year in 2021, Lowry has taken a step back this season. This could be Lowry’s final year in Green Bay.

S Adrian Amos

Amos hasn’t been at his best for most of the 2022 season. He turns 30 in the spring, so Green Bay may decide to move on.

CB Keisean Nixon

Nixon has contributed on defense and starred on special teams, most recently on kick returns. The Packers need to bring him back.

S Rudy Ford

Ford was signed to help on special teams but he has also made an impact on defense with two interceptions and a forced fumble. The Packers should re-sign Ford.

S Dallin Leavitt

As expected, Levitt has become a core special teams player for Green Bay. There’s likely a good chance he returns in 2023.

EDGE Justin Hollins

Hollins has only played two games for Green Bay but already has one sack and one quarterback hit. The final four games could determine whether he’s back.

CB Corey Ballentine

Ballentine hasn’t played many snaps this season, but he has mostly played on special teams when active. If the Packers feel he helps the special teams, he could return.

LB Eric Wilson

Again, Wilson has played mainly on special teams. The Packers have strong inside linebacker depth, which may make it difficult to re-sign him.
