3 biggest questions for Packers during their bye week
Will Jordan Love get an opportunity to start?
For now, there has been no indication from the coaching staff that Aaron Rodgers would head to the bench if the Packers are eliminated from playoff contention.
GM Brian Gutekunst said that Love doesn’t need to play this season and that they already know enough about him to make a decision on his fifth-year option.
Well, sure, he doesn’t need to play. But it would help, no?
If (and likely when) the Packers are eliminated, what reasons are there not to play Love? Why have Rodgers play in the meaningless games? Especially as he has been dealing with multiple injuries.
If Love had a few games to start at the end of the regular season, it could help him so much in his development. He has one career start to his name. With three in a row at the backend of the season, he could test himself against some strong defenses to close out the year.
It would help the Packers learn more about their young quarterback, while giving Love valuable reps to help him improve.
It’s another big question the Packers must answer. Is there a chance for Love to get an opportunity this season? And, if so, when?
