Packers: 3 teams that can help draft position in Week 15
I know the Green Bay Packers aren’t yet out of playoff contention.
It would be a truly special end to the regular season if they could win out and get the required help to make it into the playoffs.
But as great as that would be, it’s also not likely. So here comes the backup plan.
While we can all hope the Seattle Seahawks lose on Thursday night, there are also some other teams to watch closely, just in case the Packers don’t get the job done against the Los Angeles Rams.
In that case, these three teams winning could help Green Bay’s draft position:
Pittsburgh Steelers (at Carolina Panthers)
The Steelers and Packers are tied with a 5-8 record. Green Bay currently holds the 14th overall pick in the 2023 draft, while Pittsburgh has the 13th selection.
That will change if the Steelers defeat the Carolina Panthers then the Packers lose to the Rams on Monday Night Football.
Green Bay isn’t far off a top-10 pick. There are multiple teams tied with 5-8 records. The Steelers are one of them.
Cleveland Browns (vs. Baltimore Ravens)
The Cleveland Browns are another 5-8 team. Their pick actually belongs to the Houston Texans, with the selection currently 12th overall. Even though it’s the Texans’ draft pick, it comes from the Browns, so will be determined by Cleveland’s final record.
As above, the Packers would move up in the draft order if they lose to the Rams and the Browns defeat the Baltimore Ravens.
Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Dallas Cowboys)
The Jacksonville Jaguars pulled off a surprise victory over the Tennessee Titans a week ago, and they have now won two out of three. They also upset the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12.
If they can pull off another upset win over the Dallas Cowboys, it could help the Packers move up the draft order. Jacksonville is yet another 5-8 team.
