Packers’ offense can find success against struggling Dolphins defense
The Green Bay Packers will need to score plenty of points to defeat the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day.
Considering all of the Dolphins’ offensive talent, the Packers must find a way to consistently move the football and find the end zone.
But there’s room for optimism.
Green Bay’s offense is trending in the right direction.
Since Week 10, the Packers have averaged 26.6 points per game. In that time, Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 1,002 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions with a passer rating of 100.2.
The Packers are also averaging 136.4 rushing yards in the past five games with a total of six rushing touchdowns.
Christian Watson has been outstanding, catching 19 passes for 359 yards and seven touchdowns. Romeo Doubs impressed on his return from injury, leading the Packers in receiving with five catches for 55 yards against the Los Angeles Rams, despite playing limited snaps.
And Green Bay’s improving offense takes on a struggling Miami defense this week.
The Dolphins have lost three games in a row, allowing an average of 29.3 points in those contests.
In those defeats, Miami has allowed a total of 937 passing yards and seven touchdowns with only one interception.
On the season, the Dolphins have the 10th-worst defense in the league in yards allowed, and they are sixth-worst against the pass.
If the Packers can build on their recent performances offensively, they should be able to move the ball against this Dolphins defense.
The biggest concern for Green Bay in this game is whether it can stop Miami on offense. While Joe Barry’s unit has played well the past two games, it has come up against struggling Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams offenses.
If the defense struggles, the Packers may need 30+ points on offense.
It’s a favorable matchup against the Dolphins’ defense, but can Matt LaFleur’s offense make the most of it?
