Ranking Packers’ four possible playoff opponents in wild-card round
The Green Bay Packers must win this week to secure the seventh seed. If they get there, which team would be their toughest potential wild-card opponent?
The Green Bay Packers aren’t there yet.
They must defeat the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football to punch their ticket to the playoffs, where they would take the seventh seed in the NFC.
It’s in their own hands, which is always a good thing.
If Green Bay makes it to the postseason, it will face one of four possible opponents on the road in the wild-card round.
No playoff game is easy, but here are my rankings for the Packers’ potential playoff matchups, starting with the ‘easiest’.
4. Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay just destroyed the Minnesota Vikings 41-17 at Lambeau Field. This would be a different test at U.S. Bank Stadium, where the Packers have lost five times in seven visits, including in Week 1 this season.
But as we’ve seen on multiple occasions this season, the Vikings are beatable. And when they lose, they tend to lose big.
In Minnesota’s four losses, it has been outscored 139-50.
The Vikings would be desperate for revenge after being humiliated in Week 17. However, of the four potential wild-card opponents for the Packers, this would be their best matchup.
