Packers: Keisean Nixon, Jaire Alexander named All-Pros
The Green Bay Packers have had two players named to the AP All-Pro teams for the 2022 season.
Kick returner Keisean Nixon was named a first-team All-Pro and cornerback Jaire Alexander is part of the second team.
Nixon becomes another Brian Gutekunst free-agent signing to become an All-Pro, just like De’Vondre Campbell and Za’Darius Smith did in Green Bay.
Special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia coached Nixon with the Las Vegas Raiders, so it made sense to sign him in the offseason to help fix a struggling Packers special teams.
But few could’ve expected the impact he would make.
Nixon wasn’t even Green Bay’s kick returner for most of the season. Amari Rodgers began the year with the job, but was replaced full-time by Nixon after the win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The rest was history.
Nixon led the league in kickoff return yards with 1,009, and he also had a 105-yard kick return touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17. A week earlier, he returned a kick for 93 yards against the Miami Dolphins.
He made a huge impact for the Packers down the stretch. If only he had been given the job earlier. It could’ve made a significant difference in some close games.
Nixon is the Packers’ only first-team All-Pro this season.
Alexander is an All-Pro for the second time in his career, and it’s well deserved.
Sauce Gardner and Patrick Surtain II were the first-team selections at cornerback. Alexander and James Bradberry were the second-team choices.
Alexander set a new career-best in interceptions with five, while also defending 14 passes. He made as many interceptions this season as in his first four years combined.
According to Pro Football Reference, Alexander allowed a passer rating of just 63.7 on passes thrown his way, a new career-best.
Another incredible season for the Packers’ star cornerback.
