The Jets will aggressively try to improve at QB

As Zach Wilson struggled mightily in his sophomore season, the Jets cannot afford to have poor quarterback play hinder their chances at making the postseason in 2023 with the amount of talent they have over their entire roster.

In addition to Wilson, the Jets also mismanaged the development of QB Sam Darnold, who the team traded to the Panthers less than three years after drafting him third overall in 2018. Thus, the Jets may decide to aggressively spend to upgrade at the most important position while acquiring a more proven commodity.

Jets owner Woody Johnson recently stated that he is willing to pay whatever is necessary to add a veteran franchise quarterback next season. Johnson told reporters that the team views a franchise quarterback as the “missing piece,” and that he is ready to spend what it takes to acquire one.

Whether that be Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, or Jimmy Garoppolo, they will certainly be looking at all available avenues to improve at the position.

Given that the Jets have a healthy amount of cap space and draft capital along with a strong desire to upgrade their QB room, they are definitely a team that would be willing to part with the necessary high draft picks to acquire Aaron Rodgers and pay him a significant portion of his contract.
