Yosh Nijman played snaps in every game for the Green Bay Packers this season and made 13 starts.

Nijman signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and has gradually seen his snap counts increase each season. He played a vital role at tackle for the Packers this year.

According to ESPN, Nijman led all tackles in the NFL in run block win rate this season.

However, he was benched in the Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions, with rookie Zach Tom stepping in at right tackle.

Still, Nijman had a solid season and should be back in 2023.

Nijman is a restricted free agent this offseason. The Packers have a few options if they decide to use a restricted free agent tender.

They could use a first-round tender, a second-round tender, or a right-of-first-refusal tender.

Other teams would have the opportunity to negotiate with Nijman. If he signed an offer sheet with another team, the Packers would have the chance to match it. If they declined the option to match the deal, Nijman would sign with the other team.

With a first-round tender, the Packers would receive a first-round pick as compensation. They’d get a second-rounder if the second-round tender were used. However, they would receive no compensation for the right-of-first-refusal tender.

How much would each tender cost?

Over The Cap projects that the first-round tender will cost $6.01 million, the second-round tender $4.31 million, and the right-of-first-refusal tender $2.63 million.

If the Packers want Nijman back, they will need to decide which of the three options to use.

The more expensive tenders would cost more on the salary cap, but would give the Packers additional security should another team make an offer they can’t match. Green Bay would at least get some compensation if it lost Nijman to another team.

It would be a huge surprise if Green Bay didn’t bring Nijman back in 2023.
