The Green Bay Packers may have found a future star at the wide receiver position in Christian Watson.

It’s exactly what they needed after losing All-Pro Davante Adams last offseason.

Let’s look back at Watson’s rookie year in Green Bay and what we can expect in his second season.

2022 season review

Watson almost made an unbelievable start to his NFL career.

On the Packers’ opening offensive play of the season, Watson beat Minnesota Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson deep down the field. Aaron Rodgers found Watson, but he dropped it. With his speed, it would’ve been an easy 75-yard touchdown had he made the catch.

It was a frustrating first play, and a frustrating first half of Watson’s rookie season. He dealt with injuries and continued to drop passes.

All it took was a moment. A chance to regain confidence.

That came in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Watson had a season-high eight targets, making four catches for 107 yards and three touchdowns. He helped the Packers fight back from two touchdowns down to win the game.

From that moment, Watson couldn’t stop scoring. In the space of four games, Watson found the end zone eight times (seven receiving, one rushing).

By the end of the season, Watson had become a go-to target for Aaron Rodgers. He finished strong, making five catches for 104 yards against the Detroit Lions in Week 18.

It was a promising rookie season for Watson, who can be a star.

What’s next?

Defenses had trouble stopping Watson with his incredible athleticism and speed. As he continues to develop his game, he will only improve.

The sky is the limit for Watson, who showed the world why the Packers traded up to get him in the second round.

Watson impressed in 2022, but just imagine how good he can become in time.

The 2023 season could be a great one for Christian Watson.
