Green Bay Packers 2022 season review: Romeo Doubs
Fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs made an impressive start to his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, quickly establishing himself as a starter on offense.
Doubs and Christian Watson entered the season with high expectations, and they needed to make a difference immediately following the departure of Davante Adams.
Both players showed a lot of potential in year one. Let’s review Doubs’ rookie season.
2022 season review
Romeo Doubs didn’t take long to make impressive plays. It started all the way back in training camp.
His ability to get open and make 50/50 catches stood out, and he continued that into the regular season.
In just his third game, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, Doubs caught all eight of his targets for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Doubs made eight catches in the game which, according to Wed Hodkiewicz of Packers.com, ranks second all-time for a Packers rookie.
In just a few games, Doubs showed how good he can be. His best play of the season came on this stunning touchdown catch against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.
Unfortunately, Doubs suffered an ankle injury in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions and missed the next four games.
Over the final four weeks of the season, Doubs caught 11 passes for 111 yards, struggling to find the consistency he had earlier in the year.
Doubs showed a ton of potential in his rookie season, finishing with 42 catches, 425 yards, and three touchdowns.
What’s next?
It will be exciting to see what Romeo Doubs can do in year two with the Packers.
He has a full season of experience and now has familiarity with Matt LaFleur’s offense.
No matter whether it’s Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love throwing the football, Doubs has the potential to become an excellent starter for the Packers for many years.
A starting duo of Doubs and Christian Watson is incredibly exciting.
