4. Re-sign key free agents

Now that the Packers have created the necessary cap space, it’s time to spend some of it.

With this additional cap space, the Packers need to bring back some key free agents. That could include Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis, and Keisean Nixon.

That doesn’t mean Green Bay should just re-sign everybody. They would need to make some tough decisions. It’s impossible to keep everybody, but ensuring some important players return is a must.

The team would need to identify their free agents who are key to making a Super Bowl run.

That could be Lewis for his blocking ability and leadership. It could be Lazard for his experience with Aaron Rodgers. It could be Robert Tonyan to give Rodgers a reliable target in the middle of the field.

Nixon’s return ability would make re-signing him a must. He was a first-team All-Pro this season.

The Packers will lose some of their free agents. That’s the same for every team. But by making enough moves to create cap space, they can re-sign some of their most important free agents.

By doing so, Green Bay maintains some continuity and keeps the players they believe are crucial to making a deep playoff run in 2023.
