If Aaron Rodgers’ future isn’t with the Green Bay Packers, the New York Jets are a possible landing spot for the four-time MVP.
But the Jets could also go in another direction.
According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Jets are “really interested” in free-agent quarterback Derek Carr, who is available after being released by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Importantly, though, Russini adds that the Raiders are awaiting Rodgers’ decision on his future.
The New York Jets are really interested in Derek Carr. Nothing but positive reviews, per sources. Now they wait for Aaron Rodgers to emerge from the darkness and inform the Packers of his plans. The Jets will be speaking to Green Bay about a trade IF the Packers are willing

At some point, Rodgers and the Packers need to come to a conclusion. Is Rodgers back in Green Bay, is he retiring, or is he playing elsewhere?
Firstly, the Packers need to make plans for their own offseason. Which free agents they keep, who they try to sign, and their overall approach to the offseason could be entirely different if it’s Jordan Love taking over as the starting quarterback compared to running it back with Rodgers.
And if the Packers are to trade Rodgers, interested teams also need to know what’s going on. They can’t wait forever. They, too, have preparations to make for free agency and beyond.
The Jets could sign Derek Carr. By waiting on Aaron Rodgers, they risk losing Carr to another team.
So it would be in the Packers’ best interest to figure out where they stand with Rodgers sooner rather than later.
And it would also benefit Rodgers. If he wants to play elsewhere, delaying too long could limit his possible landing spots.
We can likely expect a decision from Rodgers in the near future. The new league year and free agency are only a few weeks away, and everyone involved will need to know what’s happening by then.
The Jets remain a team to watch, but could their interest in Derek Carr change their plans?
The Packers’ offseason uncertainty continues for a little longer.
