The Green Bay Packers tend to draft bigger wide receivers. USC’s Jordan Addison should be an exception to the rule.

Under Brian Gutekunst, the Packers have drafted seven wide receivers.

Below is the list of receivers drafted by Gutekunst:

  • J’Mon Moore (6-foot-3, 205 pounds)
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling (6-foot-4, 206 pounds)
  • Equanimeous St. Brown (6-foot-5, 214 pounds)
  • Amari Rodgers (5-foot-9, 212 pounds)
  • Christian Watson (6-foot-5, 200 pounds)
  • Romeo Doubs (6-foot-2, 200 pounds)
  • Samori Toure (6-foot-3, 190 pounds)

The only receiver the Packers have drafted under 6-foot-2 in the Gutekunst era is Amari Rodgers.

Listed at 6-0, 175 pounds, Jordan Addison doesn’t seem to fit the height/weight combination the Packers tend to go for at wide receiver. But he is worth making an exception for.

Addison is one of the best wide receivers in this year’s draft class. Whether it’s Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love throwing the football, Addison would be a great addition to the offense and an ideal complement to Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.

“He is a very smooth, polished route runner, routinely changing tempo and efficiently getting in/out of the break point,” wrote NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, who has Addison 10th in his prospect rankings for 2023.

Addison has the ability to line up in the slot, which could be his best spot in Matt LaFleur’s offense.

Christian Watson is a future star and showed his ability to make game-changing plays. Romeo Doubs impressed on 50/50 balls. Jordan Addison could become a consistent target.

In his final year at Pitt in 2021, Addison made 100 catches for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns. He played in 11 games for USC this season, making 59 receptions for 875 yards and eight touchdowns.

Addison is ready to go and would help Green Bay’s offense immediately.

“Thanks to his adjusted pace, tempo, ball skills, run-after-catch ability, and savvy route-running, there are not many landing spots in which I don’t see an impact for Addison,” wrote The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs.

As the Packers continue to rebuild their wide receiver corps with young talent, a trio of Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jordan Addison would have the potential to become the best in the NFL.

Add in a tight end, and the Packers would have a ton of pass-catching options for either Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love.
