Packers’ wide receiver depth chart after losing Allen Lazard
Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs can both become great players, but the Green Bay Packers desperately need more depth at wide receiver.
The Packers lost Allen Lazard in free agency. He has signed with the New York Jets. Randall Cobb is also a free agent.
Green Bay entered the 2022 season with Amari Rodgers and Sammy Watkins, but both players were released during the season.
Watson and Doubs will be key contributors on offense this season, but take one look at the Packers’ updated depth chart, and it’s clear they need to keep adding at wide receiver.

Here’s the good news: Green Bay has plenty of time to add depth at receiver.
Ideally, they will draft one or two receivers and sign a veteran. That could come via free agency or a trade.
For example, imagine the Packers draft Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Corey Davis is included in the trade for Aaron Rodgers?
Suddenly, a top four of Watson, Doubs, Smith-Njigba, and Davis looks a lot better.
Another option, although less likely, would be to trade for Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, a former first-round pick.
Maybe the Packers add to the wide receiver depth chart entirely in the draft. Doubling down with a top prospect like Smith-Njigba or Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt in the early rounds, then adding a player like Iowa State’s Xavier Hutchinson later on could make sense.
If they can also add a tight end in the draft, the Packers’ receiving corps would be in much better shape.
One thing is for sure: Green Bay needs to keep adding receiving talent to help Jordan Love this offseason. Watson and Doubs are a great duo to build around, but they need more help.
