In a game that Aaron Rodgers thought he was going to win after three quarters, the Green Bay Packers reminded their former quarterback and the Pittsburgh Steelers how important it was to play an entire game.
On Sunday Night Football, the Packers used a 21-point fourth quarter to come back and beat Rodgers and the Steelers. And, although the Packers were on the road, they were able to force Rodgers into doing something you don't often see happen.
Rodgers told reporters he could hear the Packers fans chanting "Go Pack Go!" and noted that the fan base travels well, as he had to make a shift in how he was making calls at the line of scrimmage.
"I've heard that chant for 18 years. Packers fans travel really well. First time in a while I used silent count for a home game. That's a credit to those Packers fans."
Packers fans were able to stick it to Aaron Rodgers and disallow him to join a historical group
The crowd in Pittsburgh got so loud that Rodgers had to use a silent count. Ha, that is absolute gold. That's priceless.
And, not only did the Packers get the victory, but they also made sure Rodgers didn't join a highly-exclusive club in the end. Had Rodgers beaten the Packers, he would have become just the fifth quarterback ever to defeat all 32 NFL teams, joining Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady.
Alas, Rodgers will have to continue to wait on getting let into that club and, maybe, he'll never get in. At this rate, Rodgers won't get another chance to play the Packers unless the two teams somehow met in the Super Bowl in a few months. Rodgers did, of course, note that this would be his last season playing in the NFL.
He had also alluded to the idea of retiring as a Packer, soon enough.
He might end up retiring a Packer, but his old fan base made sure he'd never be on the opposing side of victory against the green and gold. And, they were loud in cementing this fact.
