Life is good for the Green Bay Packers right now.
With a dominant 30-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving night, Matt LaFleur & Co. have now won three in a row and seven of their last eight, their only loss in that stretch coming to the 11-1 Detroit Lions.
While it'll be tough for Green Bay to overtake Detroit in the NFC North, the Packers, who improved to 9-3 with their win over Miami, are essentially a lock for the postseason as long as there's no sort of monumental collapse, which doesn't seem likely given how this team is performing right now.
So, again, life is good in Green Bay.
However, the same can't be said for a few former Packers around the league. And you know there's only one place to start in that regard.
Former Packers who are struggling away from Green Bay in 2024
Aaron Rodgers
What was supposed to be a dream season for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets quickly turned into an absolute nightmare.
Things started nicely enough, as Gang Green won two of their first three, but it was all downhill from there, as the Jets lost their next five, a losing streak during which Robert Saleh was fired.
Rodgers claims he had nothing to do with how things went down, but I'm not sure how many people bought that. The same could be said about the situation involving wideout Mike Williams, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers not long after Rodgers threw him under the bus.
While Rodgers has put up decent enough numbers, completing 63.4% of his passes for 2,442 yards with 17 touchdowns against seven interceptions, he's clearly not an elite quarterback in this league any longer and may not even make it through the season.
The Packers clearly made the right move in shipping Rodgers out of town and moving forward with Jordan Love.
Davante Adams
Remember how the Jets were supposed to go on this magical run once Rodgers again got his way and got the front office to acquire Davante Adams?
Yeah, how's that working out?
To be fair, Adams has had a few decent games in a Jets uniform. But he's not had a single 100-yard game since coming to New York and has only scored one touchdown in five outings.
His best game of the year remains his nine-catch, 112-yard, one-touchdown performance in Week 2 while still with the Las Vegas Raiders in a win over the Baltimore Ravens. And speaking of wins, that victory over Baltimore with the Raiders equals the number of victories he's had with the Jets.
Jon Runyan
Trust us, we could keep bashing the Jets all day long, but we'll switch gears here, although we will stay in New York for this next entry.
After spending the first four years of his career with the Packers, guard Jon Runyan signed with the New York Giants this past offseason, inking a three-year, $30 million deal that included $17 million in guaranteed money. And at this point, it looks like the Giants overpaid.
Through a dozen games, Runyan has an overall PFF grade of 53.8, which places him 62nd among the 76 guards who meet the minimum snap count required to be ranked. And Runyan has even fewer wins than Rodgers, as the Giants are just 2-10.
De'Vondre Campbell
Some were surprised when the Packers released De'Vondre Campbell this past spring, as he had three years remaining on the five-year contract he signed following his All-Pro season in Green Bay in 2021.
But it was undoubtedly the right call.
Campbell's All-Pro campaign was clearly an anomaly, as he came nowhere close to producing at the same level in 2022 and 2023. And he's struggling with the San Francisco 49ers as well.
In 11 games with the Niners, the ninth-year veteran, who claimed after his release that Green Bay hadn't used him properly, owns a 53.9 overall PFF grade, which ranks 71st among 83 eligible linebackers.
One has to wonder if he thinks the 49ers aren't using him properly either. Or could it just be that Campbell is the problem? We'll let you decide.
