Twenty years, four months, and 29 days after being drafted by the Green Bay Packers to eventually replace three-time NFL MVP Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers officially surpassed his predecessor in the NFL record books on Sunday in the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 3 matchup with the New England Patriots, throwing the 509th regular-season touchdown pass of his career, thus taking over sole possession of fourth on the all-time list.

Coming into this 2025 NFL season, which Rodgers says will likely be his last, the four-time NFL MVP sat five TD passes behind Favre with 503. The 41-year-old quickly moved within one with four touchdown tosses in the Steelers' Week 1 win over the New York Jets and then tied Favre at 508 with a 2-yard strike to DK Metcalf in Pittsburgh's Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

On Sunday, Metcalf was again the target for Rodgers' history-making moment, as the two connected on a 12-yard touchdown just over a minute into the second quarter to give the Steelers a 14-0 lead.

Earlier in that same drive, Rodgers also surpassed Philip Rivers to move into sixth place on the NFL's all-time passing yards list. With 139 yards on the afternoon, the 10-time Pro Bowler has racked up 63,538 regular-season passing yards for his career and now has his sights set on Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger, who sits in fifth place with 64,088 yards. He won't be catching Favre in this category, however, as the Packers' famous No. 4 sits at No. 4 on this list with 71,838 yards.

Rodgers added touchdown pass No. 510 with 2:16 remaining in the fourth quarter, hooking up with Calvin Austin III for a 17-yard score that gave Pittsburgh a 21-14 advantage, which ultimately proved to be the final score.

Here's how the top five on the NFL's all-time regular-season touchdown passes list shakes out.

  1. Tom Brady: 649
  2. Drew Brees: 571
  3. Peyton Manning: 539
  4. Aaron Rodgers: 510
  5. Brett Favre: 508

If one wanted to get technical, Rodgers had already surpassed Favre in all-time total touchdown passes between the regular season and postseason with that TD toss to Metcalf in Week 2, as that gave Rodgers 553 for his career, giving him one more than the 552 thrown by Favre (508 regular season, 44 postseason). After Sunday's action, Rodgers now has 555 for his career (510 regular season, 45 postseason).
