Aaron Rodgers Watch is nearing a conclusion. Finally.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Rodgers is visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend and "will likely play for them in 2026." It's a significant update that almost ends the uncertainty over his future for the upcoming season, but it also creates a fascinating Packers twist.

Assuming he does indeed return to Pittsburgh, the Aaron Rodgers-Mike McCarthy partnership is back. McCarthy replaced Mike Tomlin as the Steelers head coach this offseason. He left the door open for a Rodgers reunion, and it now looks likely to happen.

Packers fans can sit back and enjoy the Aaron Rodgers-Mike McCarthy connection enter an unexpected chapter

Rodgers and McCarthy brought home the Packers' most recent Lombardi Trophy in 2011. They also went through a messy divorce in 2018, the end of McCarthy's tenure in Green Bay.

The Packers' offense had become stale, with the team slumping to a 4-7-1 record. McCarthy didn't even get to finish the season. Green Bay moved on, handed the keys to Joe Philbin to end the year, then moved into the Matt LaFleur era, which saw Rodgers double his MVP tally.

Despite all the rumors and speculation about how Rodgers' relationship with McCarthy may have turned sour at the end of their run together, they are undoubtedly on the same page now.

"I think time always can be a great healer, not that there needed to be a lot of healing in our relationship," Rodgers told The Athletic's Matt Schneidman in 2022.

We've seen McCarthy take on the Packers, once against Rodgers and the other against Jordan Love. We've even seen Rodgers play against the Packers, with Love leading a stunning comeback in a Week 8 win last year.

Now, we can just sit back and enjoy. Barring a Super Bowl showdown, the Packers and Steelers won't meet this season.

Speaking of the Super Bowl, that would be an all-time storyline. Not only would it be Rodgers and McCarthy facing the Packers, but it would be a rematch of Super Bowl XLV, when they led Green Bay to victory over Pittsburgh. But that matchup remains a long shot, for now.

Rodgers reuniting with McCarthy is truly fascinating, especially considering how things ended in Green Bay. It's the final chapter nobody ever expected, and pure cinema for Packers fans. Enjoy the ride.
