NFL coaches, including those from the offensive-minded Green Bay Packers staff, should be tripping over themselves to get the opportunity to fix up Indianapolis Colts quarterback and former No. 4 pick Anthony Richardson due to his physical tools, but a trade has not materialized. After a few days of training camp, it's becoming clear why.
James Boyd of The Athletic wrote that Richardson, who has not backed down in his request for a trade away from Indianapolis, has seen his stock fall at training camp, with one of his most recent practices standing out as one of the worst he has ever uncorked.
Richardson either dropped or mishandled an "alarming" number of snaps, and all signs point to Riley Leonard beating him out for the backup spot. Packers fans who are entranced by Richardson's talent might be asking for a trade, but he's regressed to the point where a trade with Green Bay should evaporate.

Green Bay's season could go down the tubes if something were to happen to Love. Tyrod Taylor can operate an offense for a few games, but he lacks the arm talent needed to win games with his passing alone at this stage of his career.
The Packers don't have a developmental young quarterback that LaFleur can help mold (no, Kyle McCord doesn't count).
Richardson fans could look to LaFleur as a wealth of knowledge that could turn the top pick around. LaFleur's offense is borderline idiot-proof for talented quarterbacks. However, Richardson has struggled in Shane Steichen's efficient offense that was on fire with Daniel Jones, further hurting his value.
For every Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield, who just needed the right system around them to truly take off, there are 10 Justin Fields types who never manage to figure it out. Richardson's comical lack of accuracy and inability to beat out someone in Leonard, who was so poor last year that Indy pulled 44-year-old Philip Rivers out of retirement rather than play him, are both red marks against him.
The Packers may end up looking for a long-term backup behind Love elsewhere, be it in the NFL Draft or on the trade market for someone who is as much of a complete lottery ticket. Richardson may be destined to forever rank near the top of innumerable "biggest NFL busts ever lists" as his arm and athleticism couldn't help him run an NFL offense.
