Antonio Freeman created lifelong memories for Green Bay Packers fans up and down the country.

It's now his son Alex Freeman's turn to embark on his own tour of the NFL's most famous stadiums, but for a completely different reason. Alex has been included in the United States' squad for this summer's FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Even if you're not into soccer, there's something poetic about that.

Antonio once lit up the Seattle Kingdome with seven catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns. On June 19, Alex could create his own career-defining memories when the USA meets Australia at Lumen Field, located at the same site as the old Kingdome.

If the United States wins Group D, they will head to Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, for the Round of 32. It was at the old Candlestick Park where Antonio produced one of his finest playoff performances, catching four passes for 107 yards and one touchdown in the Packers' 23-10 win over the Niners in the 1998 NFC Championship Game.

Antonio Freeman's son gets to live out his World Cup dream in the NFL's most iconic stadiums

Antonio Freeman is a Packers legend and one of the greatest wide receivers in franchise history. It's fitting that Alex Freeman, who is just 21 years old and getting his first opportunity to represent his country in a World Cup, gets to do it in the United States in the homes of NFL teams his father made a career of destroying.

How cool is that?

Freeman will face competition to consistently make the starting lineup, but he offers the versatility that will help him feature for Mauricio Pochettino's team. He is primarily a right-back but has experience playing centrally and also in more advanced positions on the right side of midfield.

He has risen through the ranks, having made a huge move to play for Spain's Villarreal, which finished third in La Liga behind only Barcelona and Real Madrid. Freeman made his debut for the USMNT on May 22, 2025, and has since featured in 15 games, scoring two goals.

Playing in a World Cup is a career-defining achievement. It truly doesn't get any bigger than that.

It's even cooler for Freeman, who gets a rare opportunity to not only play in a home World Cup, but to represent his country in the homes of the NFL's most famous teams, just like his dad did.

And maybe, just maybe, he'll follow in his father's footsteps by bringing home a world championship.
