Green Bay Packers fans haven't forgotten about cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, signed to a two-year, $9.8 million contract early this offseason and viewed as a candidate to steal a starting spot from Keisean Nixon or Carrington Valentine. It's just that, in the aftermath of Brandon Cisse's arrival via the draft, bringing with it rave reviews from scouts, coaches, and teammates alike, it's been easy to overlook St-Juste.

Rather than a rookie with uncapped potential - and Cisse is a genuine threat to emerge as Green Bay's CB1 - he is a five-year veteran yet to really make his mark. While that is admittedly not nearly so exciting, St-Juste will have every chance to make a name for himself with the Packers.

A big-bodied boundary corner with past starting experience, he is the other offseason addition who could shake up the cornerback rotation. Even if he isn't the shiny new toy that Cisse is, St-Juste is not to be discounted.

Benjamin St-Juste has slipped under the radar following draft excitement

To that point, he was PFF's 12th-ranked corner out of 114 last season, beating out anyone on Green Bay's roster. In coverage, St. Juste clocked in at No. 9, despite modest numbers - one interception and three pass breakups. The Packers tend to value size, and they could certainly use St-Juste's 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame on the outside.

It's fair to question whether those results will translate across a larger sample size. With the Chargers in 2025, St-Juste saw only 356 snaps and two starts. Over the previous three seasons in Washington, he started 42 of 45 games.

St-Juste's lack of an impressive track record also made it easier for him to recede into the background following the excitement of the draft, which also brought in sixth-round cornerback Domani Jackson. St-Juste peaked in 2023 with the Commanders, notching an interception and 17 passes defensed, according to Pro Football Reference. He also forced two fumbles and came up with a sack.

While nothing on his stat sheet jumps out, it wouldn't be surprising if he had a career year in Green Bay. There is a real chance that Cisse and St-Juste are both starting by season's end. As a three-year Packers starter, Nixon in particular won't relinquish his role without a fight, but the opportunity is there to be had.

St-Juste can be an X-factor even without cracking the starting lineup. Part of that is the pressure he will put on Nixon and Valentine to step up their performance. Part of it is his durability, missing only one game since 2023. That is already an upgrade over what Nate Hobbs gave the Packers a year ago.

While Green Bay's cornerback room still needs plenty of hashing out and arguably still lacks a true No. 1, one thing that shouldn't be questioned is its much-improved depth and versatility. St-Juste doesn't sparkle and shine like a promising rookie, and the signing is hardly a headliner, but he is as important as anyone to the group's potential for growth this season.
